Gerardo found his fitness passion in the New York City
gyms, which would drive his career for the next 15 years.
He’s worked for high-end clubs in Manhattan such as the
New York Health and Racquet Club and the New York Sports Club.
Gerardo is certified by International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) – a well known organization; examining topics in Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Strength Conditioning, Program Development, Nutrition counseling, Injury and Disease prevention, Older or Young Adults fitness programs, and Group Training. He keeps his knowledge fresh by renewing his certification periodically and attending seminars on current events. He has had hands on experience training clients with torn ACL’s, lower back injuries, dealing with obesity, post transplant patients, recovering from cancer, and exercising with arthritis. Gerardo’s mission is to introduce healthier habits into his clients daily lives, and dramatically change their outlook and attitude towards fitness.
Having been in the fitness industry for more than 15 years Gerardo is convinced that the addition of functional movements into an exercise routine is the most important change anyone could make for better overall fitness and good health. Traditional “weightlifting” exercises generally target only one muscle for each exercise. Functional training exercise generally targets more than one body part with each movement or exercise. Functional training emerged primarily from the sports conditioning and rehabilitation world. Functional training refers to the type of exercises that contribute to better, more efficient and safer performance of real world activities or sports movements.
